Sunday Smoothies
for every day of the week

Smoothies have become the rage but the more natural the ingredients the more nutritious and healthy the smoothies will be.  Enjoy a daily smoothie!

Smoothies
are often thought by some as high calorie drinks full of sugars with yogurt or ice cream.
These are really known as milkshakes
:-)
A true blended Smoothie will have an assortment of produce for an extra boost of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.  A great way to receive your daily colors.
Smoothies are so easy to put together and the selection of healthy ingredients is almost limitless.
I try to use mostly fresh produce but will at times use frozen fruits and vegetables.

Ingredients used:
  • Fruits - pretty much any fruits even citrus.
  • Vegetables - even root vegetables (I partially cook these and use the water as a liquid base)
  • Liquid base - natural fruit juices, coconut water, water with tea flavors and milk just to name a few
  • Seeds and others - Chia seeds, flaxseeds, wheat germ, oats, nuts, plain yogurt and more
  • Don’t forget a little green such as spinach or kale – once blended you cannot taste it.
All you need to start with are a few basic recipes and let your taste buds and imagination do the rest.

Smoothie Benefits:
  • A great way to add important nutrients to your diet
  • You can drink your colors with the selection of your vegetables and fruits
  • Enhance your physique and long-term health
  • Give an overall good feeling
  • Boost your energy - I often use a smoothie as a midafternoon pick me up with a handful of
    mixed nuts.
The secret to keeping your smoothie as natural as possible is to avoid high-calorie, sugar-delivery ingredients such as sweetened yogurt and juices.
Tools needed:
Blending tools can be as simple as a mixing
Wand, as powerful as a Vita Mix or anything in between.
My personal favorite is the "
Ninja" - these blenders come in different Horsepower and different combinations.  A good one to start with is the Ninja Professional Blender (BL660)
The blender
includes one 1100-watt base, 72 oz. Total Crushing Pitcher, and two 16 oz. Nutri Ninja Cups with To-Go Lids.  I like the individual cups, to blend and go.
