Her metallic body still looks mighty fine for her age and someone through the years has taken very good care of her internal running parts. Due to her age, her doors and windows may need a little extra lubricating but Toots is definitely a treasured gem and I plan on treating her as such by pampering her with a few new accessories.
As we age we may start questioning our looks, our bodies and even our purpose in life.
We need to accept ourselves for who we are and if necessary make the proper habit changes to
become who we wish to be.
Our next trip was to the DMV so Toots could be registered for the open road.
As most people know, some DMV offices can work at times like a slow train to nowhere.
I feel that the DMV in my City has worked hard on becoming more organized and efficient.
The average appointment waiting time is an hour or less. They text your cell on regular
intervals to give you updates on the status and time left to your appointment.
As I sat there waiting for my number to be called, I was doing some people watching and most like me,
were patiently waiting, daydreaming or texting on their phones.
A gentleman a few seats away was loudly and abusively complaining about how long his wait was going to
Now I’m a believer that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but certain situations that you need to deal
with in life can at times be out of your control.
Being impatient will only aggravate the situation, your stress level and not to mention your health in general.
The best way, I feel in dealing with some of these situations is to first deal with yourself. Take your attitude in
hand and calm yourself with a few deep breaths and self positive conversation.
Plan ahead for your appointments and bring something to keep you busy while you wait.
I always carry 1 or 2 printed articles with me for such situations. This can be a great time to catch up on some of
your reading. If possible, reschedule the appointment for a better and less stressful time.
In life you may not always have control of certain situations but you alone have control of your emotions and on how you react to these everyday stressful events that may come your way.
I am grateful to family and friends who have given me rides the last few years.
Tootsie has been on the road many a times before in her twenty plus years but for me it's still a new experience.
We have since gone for coffee, we've been shopping and soon we will be visiting one of my favorite places, the local Museum of Art.
I'm still adjusting to the freedom that Tootsie has brought into my life as we will soon be on the road again!
